The final show of William’s tour in the Middle East saw him competing at the beautiful Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club……

The final show in the UAE was certainly a successful one where Billy Diamo (Cevin Z x Andiamo) was in excellent form, jumping clear every day.

Day 1 was the 1.50m Grand Prix qualifier, a nice double clear qualified them for Saturdays World Cup qualifier. On Friday Diamo climbs dup the placings in the 1.50m Islamic Bank Challenge, where his fluent clear saw him finish in 8th.

Saturday, the final day, saw a quality field line up for the 1.60m Longines FEI World Cup Qualifier. Such was the standard that 15 combinations went forward to the jump off. Once again William and Diamo jumped an outstanding clear! On this occasion, just over 2 seconds off the pace, they had to settle for 7th in what was always going to be a super fast jump off.

Not to be outdone, Billy McCain got a podium finish after finishing 3rd in a 1.45m class!

Zoe with Billy McCain & Billy Diamo

Zoe and the boys were all set and ready for their flight to Amsterdam on Sunday. Unfortunately storm “Ciara” disrupted their arrival into Schiphol just before landing. They were diverted to Munich to refuel where unfortunately due to a lack of stabling facilities at the airport the horses had to remain on the plane. Zoe is hugely experienced when it comes to flying with the horses and she was on hand at all times to make sure they were fed, watered and happy. Some time later, thankfully the second attempt on landing at Schiphol was successful! The decision was made to give the horses 24 hours to recover from their long flight. They are now on their way back to us (11/02/20) and we will all be glad to see them and Zoe back safe

We would like to thank the hospitality shown to us throughout the tour, it was our second year attending these fantastic venues and we will most definitely be putting it in the calendar for 2021! Also, huge thanks to the immensely talented Helen Cruden for the wonderful photos she took of the horses!

Now only 2 days before we leave for The Sunshine Tour…………
