Thursday the 7th October became a day of huge celebrations for The Billy Stud as Lucy Townley and Billy Nikon were crowned HOYS Foxhunter Champions 2021!!!
In a 7 horse jump off, Lucy and Nikon claimed victory from final draw!
It’s the class that everyone wants to win, it’s seen previous champions go on to the highest level in the sport following their victory and now Billy Nikon and Lucy Townley have added their names to the illustrious roll of honour! This victory is particularly poignant to Lucy as she now joins her grandfather, Hickstead founder, Douglas Bunn amongst the class victors. With boss, and previous winner of the class, William on hand to make sure a plan was in place, Lucy executed the perfect round from her final draw in the jump off to take the win!
The 7 year old Billy Nikon ( Plot Blue Vechta) was the winner of the Foxhunter Masters at the National Championships last month and also qualified for the World Young Horse Championships. The decision was made to save Billy Nikon for the HOYS final and not travel her to Lanaken – a decision that certainly paid off!
We were absolutely delighted that Lucy’s groom Will Lyles was also invited into the arena during the prize giving to receive the grooms award for the winning horse. We are so incredibly lucky at The Billy Stud that our grooms show the highest level of dedication to all of the horses. We couldn’t be more grateful to them and moments like this are not possible without the efforts that they put in!
