Last weekend brought to a close the shows at Hickstead for another year! It was a busy week with William away competing in France and Pippa at the European Championships – it was left to Shane O’Reilly, Jay Hijazi, India Bussey and Lottie Tutt to fly The Billy Stud flag!
Jay Hijazi and the lovely 5 year old Coolnamona went well all week and got a thoroughly well deserved 5th place in the main ring in the 5 Year Old Championship! This Harlequin du Carel sired mare took Hicksteads iconic arena in her stride and was completely unfazed by the atmosphere.
India Bussey also enjoyed a great week with Billy Olive (Billy Congo x Nimmerdor) qualifying in a very competitive 1.30m class for the final in the International ring on Sunday. India and Olive have formed a great partnership in a very short time and it was lovely to see the finish 5th in the Championship.
Shane O’Reilly also enjoyed a great week qualifying Billy Chill (Billy Mexico x Vechta), Billy McDermitt (Tangelo x Crusing) and Billy Delight (Billy Mexico x Vechta) for the 6 year old final with all 3 jumping great rounds. However, it was Billy Ring (Billy Congo x Kannan) that was the star of the show with an 8th place in the Grand Prix qualifier and going on to jump a fantastic clear in the Grand Prix finishing in 11th.
